Rock n’ Roll Marathon – June 26 | Lazarex Cancer Foundation
At the beginning of March 2010 I decided to run my first marathon – the Seattle Rock n Roll Marathon on June 26. And WOW! I beat my goal of breaking four hours with a Boston Marathon Qualifying Time of 3:38 for my age classification!
To provide motivation I supported the Lazarex Cancer Foundation
My father, Marty, has had cancer for 10 years and the original prognosis was only six months. He’s tough and still hanging in there. Fortunately he served in the Navy during WWII and has good coverage. Many cancer patients and their families are less fortunate and suffer not only from the disease, but the financial burden as well. I’m sure you also know people who have cancer that may be struggling with the emotional strain of paying for treatment. This is where The Lazarex Foundation is a huge help.
Lazarex Cancer Foundation builds a bridge to hope, dignity and life for cancer patients and their families. They provide financial assistance to defray the costs associated with patient participation in FDA clinical trials. Additionally, they help patients navigate their clinical trial options and provide community education and outreach services. Their mission is to provide resources for cancer patients who’ve been told they have no other options, but who are not yet done with their journey in life and refuse to give up now.
My goal was $1,500 and thanks to all of you I hit $1,740! THANKS EVERYONE!
